Business continuity and disaster recovery

Know how long you could be down, and how to be up sooner.

Overview

Systems fail. Power goes out, disks break, an office floods, an employee deletes the wrong folder, an attacker locks your files. What matters is how long the business is stopped and how much work is lost.

We help you answer two questions for each system: how long can you be without it, and how much recent work can you afford to lose. The answers decide what protection each system needs and what it costs.

We then build the recovery arrangements, write the plan down in plain steps and test it with you, because a plan nobody has tried is only a hope.

What is included

  • Impact analysis

A list of your systems with what each one costs you when it is down and how fast it must return.

  • Recovery planning

Step by step instructions for restoring each system, with names, numbers and the order of work.

  • Replication and standby systems

Copies of critical systems kept ready in another place, in the cloud or at another site.

  • Failure testing

Practice runs that show whether the plan works, followed by fixes to anything that did not.

  • Communication plan

Who tells staff, customers and suppliers what, and how, if your systems are unavailable.

  • Plan reviews

Regular updates, because the business and its systems keep changing.

How the work is delivered

  1. Step 1

    Assess

We rank your systems by what an outage costs you.

  2. Step 2

    Design

We choose the recovery method for each system and agree the budget.

  3. Step 3

    Implement

We set up the copies, write the plan and train the people named in it.

  4. Step 4

    Monitor

We test on a schedule and update the plan when anything important changes.

What you end up with

  • An honest answer to how long you could be down
  • Recovery steps written down, not held in one person's head
  • Critical systems copied to a second place
  • A plan that has been tested at least once
  • Everyone who matters knows their part
